ORBITS — Privacy Policy

ORBITS ("we", "us") is a student job marketplace for Ireland, available as a mobile application on Android and iOS. This policy explains what personal data we process, why, and the rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is the data controller?

ORBITS is the data controller for personal data processed through the app. Contact: albertodelviejosanchez@gmail.com.

What data we collect

• Account data: email address and password (managed by Firebase Authentication; we never see your password).
• Student profile data (provided by you): name, education, county/area, skills, certifications, availability, employment and volunteering history, interests, and an optional profile photo.
• Business profile data (provided by you): company name, sector, location, description, contact email, and subscription plan.
• Content you create: job listings, job applications, and public feed posts.
• Usage and diagnostics: anonymised app interaction events (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). We do not use the Android advertising ID.

Why we process it (legal bases)

• To provide the marketplace — matching students with jobs, showing profiles to verified businesses, delivering applications (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
• To keep the app reliable and secure — diagnostics and crash reporting (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).
• To process business subscriptions via Stripe (performance of a contract).

Who we share data with

We use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics) to run the service, and Stripe to process business subscription payments. These providers act as processors on our behalf. We do not sell personal data or share it with third parties for advertising.

Student profiles are visible to registered businesses only if you keep your profile visibility switched on; you can turn this off at any time in the app.

Retention

Your data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, posts and applications are permanently deleted.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from the app: Profile → privacy & data section offers data export and account deletion. See also our account deletion page. You additionally have the right to rectification, restriction, objection and portability, and to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Age

ORBITS is intended for users aged 16 and over.

We will update this page if our practices change and note the date above.
